I experienced a situation with a doctor which was a positive outcome. My grandmother complained to me one day that for the past couple of days she was not feeling well and was having heart palpitations. When I checked her blood pressure and heart rate  I noticed that her heart rate was at 40. We immediately took her to cook county hospital in Chicago. When we got to the hospital we explained to the nurse what was happening to her  and she  took her vitals which shows her heart rate was low. The nurse put her as priority to be seen by a doctor immediately.  My grandmother did a lot of tests which included labs and EKG. The doctor talked to us about different options so we can make a decision. We all sat down and talked about what would be the best for my grandmother and the doctor listened to all her questions and concerns. The decision we all made together including my grandmother was for her to get a pacemaker because we believe it would be the best outcome. After she got the pacemaker she’s been doing really good and going to her follow up appointments. The share approach decision making which consists of 5 steps of healthcare in practice is essential to use in providing good care and outcome  (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality 2020).
